Brace yourselves; this is one for the audiophiles out there. The NAD T585 universal DVD player is one serious piece of kit, packing more fizzes and pops than a bag of sherbert.
The T585 offers both DVD Audio and SACD support, while using 24-bit 192-kHz audio DACs and high speed FET output devices to keep the quality high. Digital bass management should prevent the bass frequencies from distorting, and a True Surround circuit to give the impression of five channel audio from just two speakers.
Video performance should be good too with a Dual Discreet Video Circuit for top quality visuals via component video, and a 12-bit, 216-MHz video DAC for vivid detail on low level video signal. HDTVs won't miss out with upscaling of standard DVDs to 720p and 1080i via HDMI and component.
The sheer number of connections on the T585 means no system should be incompatible, with HDMI, component, S-Video, and composite video connectors covering the video side, and coax, optical, 5.1 analogue and stereo analogue connectors for audio.
The T585 Universal DVD player should retail for £800, and it comes in a grey or titanium finish.
