'VERY GOOD PERFORMANCE, GOOD CONNECTIVITY, STYLISH DISPLAY'
Strengths:
- Good value for money
- Very good overall sound quality
- Multiroom set-up
- Bass management
- Display
Weaknesses:
- No automatic speaker set-up
- No Dolby ProLogic IIx
- Plastic front panel
Overall:
Except the plastic front panel (which should rather be alu) the AVR330 doesn't look so bad. In fact, the nice dot matrix display and the blue-glowing volume control look pretty good.
But it's not only the design that make this AV receiver one of the better ones of it's class: It also sounds very good. That holds for both stereo music and movie soundtracks. To connect the receiver with your existing equipment, it comes with a lot of different inputs and outputs. It's just missing the new digital video ones like DVI or HDMI, but as long as you don't have a plasma screen or a HDMI DVD player this doesn't really matter. Set-up is quite easy, too. The one thing I really miss is an automatic speaker set-up known from the new Yamaha, Onkyo and Pioneer receivers. The OSM looks a bit old-fashioned and simple, but does the job it's designed for.
As I said, I can't complain about the sound. Dialogues and action scenes sound very good, as do stereo CDs. In this price range, it's one of the better AV receivers.
