Strengths: I own several PURE radios so there must be something good about the brand. I've also got the additional speaker for stereo sound. Sound quality is very good, the standard of construction high. A very good set up for the dining room or kitchen only outdone in my household by the SONUS which beats it on facilities (these however, are more appropriate to the bedroom!!)
Weaknesses: Digital radio has (as seems so often the case) been over hyped but within the limitations of the format the PURE EVOKE is a great buy, the SONUS remains my favourite though.
Overall: An excellent radio set up, particularly with the additional speaker, for the dining room or kitchen, or kitchen/diner in fact! High standard of build and good sound quality and looks good in it's wooden casing.
Strengths: sound quality always seems better with any pure product,
Weaknesses: none
Overall: if your looking for your first dab radio pure in my book are the first choice, classic designs and fantastic sound quality, coupled with ease of use make these a must for any radio listner
Strengths: This was my first foray into the DAB world and the reception was a revelation to me. Useful functions and snappy styling. Not as classy as the infamous Tivoli perhaps, but a good looker none the less. BBC world service clarity like never heard before.
Weaknesses: You don't get DAB reception everywhere, so if you're thinking of buying now, you might want to consider that the Evoke-2 now out has FM reception as well.
Overall: Good value radio with solid performance (so far, have had it since Dec. 2003). Am tempted to upgrade to either the evoke-2 already, though might have to just settle with buying the stereo speaker..
Overall: This was my first introduction to DAB and I was very impressed by how easy it was to use, I don’t think I could find my way around an analogue tuning dial any more. I got the additional ST-1 speaker that converts its mono ability to stereo. If you put them together and they look like they were made for each other, which I suppose they were. My only regret is that I probably bought it too soon, as the prices of DAB radios seem to be dropping pretty rapidly now.
