'EXCELLENT PLAYER'
Strengths:
Impressively neutral, holographic sound. Pictures have excellent contrast and consequently better brightness. Progressive scan pictures gives images wonderfully smooth motion, and also even though it is capable of only 576p via component outputs. The construction of the player is of a very high quality, and I'm sure a key factor in it's excellent performance. I really like it's simple good looks, and will blend into any contempoary living space.
Weaknesses:
At the time I paid 1150 quid, a rather significant higher price then their midrange player (the dv88+). This higher price was only due to the extra dvd-audio capabilites, which even though sound excellent, never took off. The price of this model then dropped very low on the 2nd hand market as I discovered when I ended up selling it. Other then the price this was a wonderful player at the time and still is.
Overall:
An all round excellent player. When and if dvd becomes obsolete to the user, it can still be used as an excellent cd player.

Weaknesses:
The remote is not particularly well laid out.

This is an SDI modded player from Elliot at PJ HiFi and produces exceptional picture and sound quality.
