'A VERSATILE PAIR OF PHONES'
Strengths:
Isolation of background noise is good, great if you’re working without monitors and are into split-ear mixing. They’re apparently manufactured by Ixos and seem to offer pretty good volume levels without much distortion. The head strap offers lots of adjustment, and unlike the cheaper pair I use in my studio, the cans adjust on both a horizontal and vertical axis, ensuring you get a good contact with the ear.
Weaknesses:
I find the material the pads are constructed from to feel a little artificial. It’s not a major gripe, but after a while your ear begins to feel a little uncomfortable.
Overall:
I don’t have any real complaints, but the superior look and feel of the Sony MDR V500DJ phones that I recently borrowed from a colleague make me question their value for money.
