'LOOKS AVERAGE BUT PERFORMS BRILLIANTLY'
Strengths:
lovely open clean sound with lovely separation . Good deep bass but with clean tones.treble clean and clear but never shrill.
Weaknesses:
don't look too classy but I don't wear them as a fashion statement. I have worn more comfortable phones but that's not to say these are uncomfortable
Overall:
No real complaints great all round sound, won't be changing these in the forseeable future unless the lottery comes up.

'GREAT SOUND'
Strengths:
Great sound, light, uncomfortable after a while means you take them off and your ears get a rest!
Weaknesses:
Uncomfortable
Overall:
These sound great and although many complain of discomfort after a while, if this is the case you've probably worn them for too long anyway!

'NEUTRAL SOUND BUT UNCOMFORTABLE'
Strengths:
Open, airy sound that never gets too brash at the top end like most American phones seem to, even at silly volumes. Nice open detailed bass, not the deepest around, but easily capable of differentiating an LP12 from a £500 CDP
Weaknesses:
Uncomfortable after more than 30 minutes, and because the earpieces can rotate 360 degrees, the cables get knotted easily which is a pain since they could potentially get crushed/split or damaged in some way. I am expecting that cable failure will be their ultimate demise.
Overall:
Excellent value for money, this is proper hi fi at a sensible price.

'IMPRESSIVE'
Strengths:
Excellent sound. Clean, clear, detailed, solid, controlled, no frequencies boosted to "impress". Good solid cable with gold-plated adapter plugs.
Weaknesses:
None really, unless you care that they don't look "cool". Note that they are open-backed so you can't use them if someone else is watching TV or trying to sleep in the same room.
Overall:
My son chose these after listening to about twelve different models in-store. He has good judgement. I bought some for myself after listening to his for some time and have been v. pleased.

'SUPRISED, YOU COULD SAY THAT'
Strengths:
Fantastic sound, yes really a fantastic sound.
Weaknesses:
Rubbish ear pads, open back design so people around can hear everything.
Overall:
I was a bit apprehensive at spending this sort of money on a pair of headphones, especially since I hardly use them. All I can say is my fears were swept away as soon as I slipped those mildly uncomfortable ear pads on my bonce. The sound coming from those tiny speakers is unbelievable. So clear and detailed, and the bass is so taught and strong. Trust me, these are superb. Now if only full size reasonably priced speakers sounded this good we'd all be laughing!

'VERY CLEAR AND DETAILED'
Strengths:
These headphones are incredibly detailed. I read a lot of reviews before buying them. I was not disappointed! My entire CD collection sounds completely different - I was using some 14 year old Sennheisers before (to be fair they were not top of the range or anything at £35 in 1990). They were far more muddy and bass heavy. These Grados cleaned up on detail and overall performance. Slightly lacking in bass for some, but treble is crystal clear. You get a really great soundstage for the money as well.
Weaknesses:
Can be a tiny bit bright at times. They are also a bit flimsy, but if you look after them then you will not have a problem. I now have the Grado RS-2 which is more balanced and relaxed overall (but at about five times the RRP cost, although I did manage to get a set on eBay).
Overall:
Best headphones by far for the price. You will not find anything better than this for £85 or so. You will also have to spend a lot of money to better them. I do not personally find them uncomfortable in the least, but this is a very common complaint. Best value for money I have ever come accross without a doubt.

'NICE SOUND BUT EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE.'
Strengths:
Good sound.
Weaknesses:
I find them positively painful to wear after an hour or so. No amount of adjustment seems to solve this problem. I think the problem is that they cut or dimininish the blood flow to my average to small sized ears. This causes a minor but irritating pain to my right ear that persists for an hour or so after use.
Overall:
I have no complaint about the sound quality of these cans, although they did not exactly transform my listening experience. My son who listens to more Hip Hop than I (I can't stand the stuff!) loves these 'phones. I've ordered an alternative set of headphones for my own use so I'll keep the SR80s but I'll never love them. I did audition these 'phones before buying but this was a waste of time. A quick listen doesn't really test headphones for their comfort.
