| 'BRIGHT & BUBBLY 'THOUGH LACKING IN SOPHISTICATION & DEPTH' | | Strengths: Communicative: provides a 'busy' sound, spitting out hitherto missed details with a mid-range that will get you tapping your foot as you replay your music collection. Not quite as inflexible to handle as it looks. Price-wise, at less then a tenner, this biwire cable represents good value and has received some critical acclaim. | | Weaknesses: The cable produces a slightly bright sound overall, with a treble that reaches high but isn't as smooth and refined as some others. With the Chord in place, there is a lot happening in the mid-range but occasionally notes can be a little artificial-sounding. Bass notes are handled fairly adeptly and with some good pace, but this cable does not plumb the depths: dub addicts look elsewhere. | | Overall: With a bright, fun, detailed and cohesive sound, but one lacking slightly in smoothness, this cable is probably better for popular rather than say, classical music. The bass is handled pretty well but will not reach and maximise the lowest frequencies of a large and effect speaker woofer. The relatively "fast" sound may invigorate a laid-back system (as it did with my Quad set-up), and encourage you to re-listen to albums to discover the layer of detail revealed by the always engaging Chord Carnival Silver. [Update 02/06/06] Have been listening to my newly cabled (Quad) set-up for a few days now, I find that the sound is changing (for the better) as the Chord cable 'beds in'. Having just read from Chord's own website that the cable takes a month to settle in and lose its 'brightness' and 'mechanical' sound, I've clearly passed judgement somewhat prematurely! Will report back in a few weeks with a final verdict! |

| 'MAKES YOUR KIT SOUND BETTER' | | Strengths: Clear and prominent sound. the instruments and vocals sound seperate from each other, i think thats called dynamics. | | Weaknesses: a bit hard to bi-wire into the amp each wire in the cable is quite thick so you get sore fingers twisting them | | Overall: my missus thought i was mad spending that amount of money, but i can tell the difference in quality and am glad i invested. |

| 'FANTASTIC.' | | Strengths: Very open, lots of detail, taut bass, well worth the money. | | Weaknesses: None that I can determine. | | Overall: My system comprises of a Cyrus8 CD, Cyrus8 Amp, 2 x PSX-R power supplies and a pair of Dynaudio Audiance 52SE speakers. This combined with Cyrus interconnects and Chord Carnival Silver speaker cable is a stunning combo. The speaker cable was the finishing touch. |

| 'EXCELLENT ' | | Strengths: Opens up the sound stage - width and depth. Postioning of instruments on the sound stage is very good, makes the subtle of the music show thems elves. Bass rythms are good and punchy + it can go deep too. Overall, this cable is a good toe tapper and excellent value for money. | | Weaknesses: None that I can think of at the moment. Still listning to find any. | | Overall: The kit comprises of: Roksan Kandy CD MkII, Proj-ect Experience deck & pre-amp with Ortofon OM20, Custom Design 20W Class A valve amp, Ruark Talisman II speakers. Interconnects are Van DeHull. Mains cables are Russ Andrews Kimber Power cords and distribution block.
The speaker cable allowed the system to sparkle in many ways. It gave new life to the music I have been listning to for years. Excellent cable worth every penny. |

| 'SUPERB' | | Strengths: Much more clarity and detail in the high-end. Bass is more dynamic and much warmer without sounding boomy. All round sonic improvement with all types of music. | | Weaknesses: None I can detect so far. | | Overall: My vinyl has been given a whole new lease of life. I'm listening to records I know intimately and I'm hearing things I never heard before. I can't recommend this cable enough. If you're thinking of an upgrade this is a great way to start. My system is; Turntable & arm: Rotel RP850 Cartridge: A&R P77 (MM) CD PlayerTechnics SL-PG570A AMP: Marantz PM6010 OSE Speakers: KEF Q1 Next upgrade will be some decent interconnects. |

| 'ANOTHER WINNER FROM CHORD.' | | Strengths: Performance and price. | | Weaknesses: None that I've found for the price. | | Overall: An excellent cable. Really did amazing things with the sound from my Gyro/Creek/Rogers combo.
Cables really shouldn't make this much of a difference.
I'm starting to realise that you really can't go wrong with Chord kit. |

| 'GOOD SOUND BUT CLUMSY TO FIT' | | Strengths: Well made, looks good too | | Weaknesses: Difficult to fit to my Denon M31, nearly breaking the connections on the main unit and tough to insert to the speakers. Too thick in fact! | | Overall: A very good product at a value price but make sure your equipment can handle the thickness at the connections |
