'GREAT UPGRADE'
Strengths:
Loads of inputs, RGB compatibility and the ability to record one source whilst watching another.
Weaknesses:
Doesn't auto-switch the aspect ratio of my TV from 4:3 to 16:9 - I have to do it manually with my TV handset. Also, it's a bit on the pricey side.
Overall:
I've got a fair few boxes under my TV, but only 2 scart sockets on the back. I previously had a manual switch-box, but upgraded to the B-Tech QUINTRO for convenience. Although it's fairly expensive, I can't realistically see myself needing to upgrade it in the foreseeable future (if ever) so seemed a sound investment.

'FANTASTIC INPUT CONTROL'
Strengths:
A fantastic device! Fast switching, automatic switching, many inputs and outputs, route one channel to the TV and the other to a recording device.
Weaknesses:
Will not auto-switch to the AUX inputs (i.e. the non-scart composite video inputs).
Overall:
I cannot claim to have tested all pins, but it does pass through pin 8 which allows for 16:9/4:3 switching, despite the claims of another review here. (I expect that your cable does not pass through pin 8 - it is common for SCART cables not to connect all pins, especially pins like this one which did not feature in the original SCART specification.) This component will probably out-last the rest of my AV equipment!

'FANTASTIC RANGE OF FEATURES'
Strengths:
All inputs and outputs support RGB / auto switching / lots of recording options
Weaknesses:
Small space between inputs means straight SCART connectors have to be used
Overall:
Excellent value product which does everything you will ever need:
- RGB on all inputs and outputs
- auto switching
- recording from any input to any other output
- ability to record 2 things at once

This is now available cheaper than the original £99 - try www.beyondhifi.com

I have read reviews that said that the remote could be flaky, and the unit could get hot - I have not encountered either of these problems. I think earlier units had these problems back in 2003, but they have all been ironed out.
