Description: Measuring 253 X 294 X 272mm (whd) (approximately a 10 inch cube). Powered by a 100 watt MOSFET amplifier connected to a long throw 8 inch drive unit rated at 150 watts.
The amplifier is over specified with a military spec glass-fibre FR4 PCB using plated through holes, high quality discrete components and a hefty toroidal transformer. In keeping with existing Q range products the Quake has the high quality gas-tight Neutrik high level input as well as line level RCA. A special feature of the new Quake is its extra connection for a PC in the form of a 3.5mm jack socket.

Strengths: Very small, simple good looks. Improved sound with a neutrik cable. Not really anything else unfortunately.
Weaknesses: Sound was often boomy and dull. I bought this second hand, and suspect that the pevious owner didn't burn-in the unit properly, as it never sounded right.
Overall: Maybe this would be good for a very small system, or for somebody who doesn't like loud music. It does have a pc input, so it should sound good in that sort of setup. I highly reccomend using the russ andrew's 8tc neutrik cable with this, as it can bring out significant rhythm and musicality with higher frequencies. A coaxial lead should also be used for the lower frequencies. Overall, a decent sound but not powerfull enough for my taste. Star grounding may bring the best out.
Strengths: for its size and weight it goes incredibly low. its so small you can tell your better half its a piece of cubist art from ikea and not a feng shui destroying sub. rels impeccable build and reputation.
Weaknesses: no power off switch on unit. manual could be a touch more concise. no neutrik cable supplied as standard.
Overall: you don't need a sub the size of a chest freezer to get genuine low frequencies via music or movies, in a small to medium size british living room a rel quake will suffice.mine is finished in maple and is alarmingly small, initially on looks alone its underwhelming, tune it in properly, using a neutrik cable and a co ax sub cable ( hi and lo connections )and it will amaze you.
