'GREAT INTRODUCTION TO MP3 PLAYERS'
Strengths:
easy to use iTunes interface. (my dad picked it up in about a day)
Looks great
Weaknesses:
Slow CD to mp3/AAC conversion.
Hissing problems with audio jack (caused by some faulty hardware with the jack itself, google for more info)
no dock
if you have to use a slipcase, you have to take it off to use the dock.
Overall:
Something you may get for the missus or a less tech savvy family or friend.

The review gives a good breakdown of the ipod mini's features, but i'd like to add that most of the features the reviewer feels is missing can be added on with supplementary devices with the exception of the Belkin USB media reader. iTrip is a great feature to add on to your iPod.

'GREAT LITTLE MP3 PLAYER, SMALL, STYLISH, SEXY!'
Strengths:
Looks
Size
Easy of use
Price
Build quality
Weaknesses:
HDD size - One day they will be able to squeeze massive hard disk drives into these things, however this day has not yet come!
Headphones aren't great, though that is to be expected.
Overall:
This is a fantastic little MP3 player. I use it mainly for walking to lectures and around town. It serves all my purposes very well. Also, iTunes is an awesome program. We all use is at Uni for sharing our music across the network ;)

I would thoroughly recommend the iSkin to protect your precious iPod mini!
