They where absolutly right, best amp for the money (and lots more). Before this amp I had a Naim Nait 5i and it is in no way comparable. I use it with Piega P4 XL MK2 speakers which sounds very well. My next upgrade will be the speakers to get everything out of the AVI. Besides the sound qualities, design is also very well done. |

| | | | Posted: 24/03/05 | | 'FABULOUS AMP' | | Strengths: Bass control and grip, clear midrange and clean treble. | | Weaknesses: None | | Overall: I'm another recent purchaser, bought to replace an Audiolab 8000C+8000P combination. As soon as I had hooked them up to my ATC SCM20SL standmounters and old Arcam Delta 170.3 transport and Black Box 5 DAC (deeply untrendy, I know - anyone got any suggestions to replace them?), the difference was immediately apparent. First of all, the midrange and treble is very clear and detailed with no harshness at all. In fact, the sound is so clear, I found I was using much higher levels than before without discomfort. But it is the control and dynamics at the bass end which I found amazing - the bass goes much deeper and has loads of detail. Try "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross to see what I mean about bass grip and dynamics. The amp is so transparent that some CDs I thought were well recorded show up as being compressed. Other recording that I thought were poor now sound much clearer and more dynamic. Even my old CD player sounds great in front of it. |

| | | | Posted: 01/04/05 | | 'SIMPLY STUNNING!' | | Strengths: Powerful, extremely detailed, musical, effortlessly drives any speaker, Superb imaging | | Weaknesses: Can't even find one! | | Overall: I have owned amplifiers ranging from low wattage single-ended TRIODEs, English exoticas, French high-end gear to American pre/power amplifiers! None have satisfied me as much as the AVI Lab Series! It has to be one of the best hi-fi bargains around, in fact, it is ridiculously underpriced for the performance it gives!! It is small (but heavy), built like a tank, but beneath its dimunitive exterior lies an amplifier that can floor many other pre/power combos that are 5 times its price! What is more, it is so easy to use that even my wife and kids have been enjoying the amplifier - the TV, video, CD player, DCD player and tuner are all hooked to it, ready to enjoy with just the press of a remote button!! The people at AVI must really be serious music lovers to have created an amplifier that has so advanced the enjoyment of music at so little cost!! It would be a sin not to audition this little big beauty! Owning the amplifier has certainly made me cease my search for a truly musical amplifier! |
