Strengths: Nice Menu's, very nice menu's - detailed programme listings, artistic design. Sadly nothing else. excellent price. Accepts s-video on the scart output.
Weaknesses: Very cheap construction. The unit crashes once a day and has to be rebooted.
Overall: It was a steal at 25 quid, but the price really shows in it's performance and construction. Although the picture is decent and menu's are attractive the unit crashes often which is very dissapointing.
Weaknesses: Soooo noisy. Awful jazzy user interface. Scene creation is a pain. Timer record events not as flexible as they could be.
Overall: NB This is about the newer Digifusion PVR200.
Ho-hum. This machine, whether it's on stand-by or not, makes a really annoying noise. It's a bit like the creaking rustling sound a VHS machine would make playing a rather old tape. You'd have trouble sleeping in the same room.
The user screens are an unpleasant mix of pink and blue. You are forced to have scenes 5 monutes apart listed down the bottom of the screen, which takes up useful space and slows down operation while the machine creates them.
Having said that. the picture and sound are fine, and the twin tuners make watching and recording easy. And the 14-day EPG is a boon.
If only Pace had continued development of their Twin, which was getting nicely debugged towards the end.

Weaknesses: Bad for weak signal reception Software errors (goes back to stand-by when zapping too quickly) Slow responses (when pressing keys on the handset, when accessing interactive features) No CAM slot (no Top-Up TV) No digital audio outputs No programmable handset
Overall: This Freeview set top box certainly is a low end product so do not expect too much quality regarding manufacturing and usability. It is not very fast (especially the handset) and needs a strong signal for proper reception. I use it in the ground floor of a house with an indoor aerial in SW London (signal quality 94-96%) and still there are occasional blocks in the picture and sound disruptions.
The auto setup process is easy to follow and includes a complete channel search. After that you can rearrange the channels or add some of them to your favourite list. However, if you do a channel search again it is reset to the default channel order.
Every day use is acceptable, but if you switch channels too quickly the box often switches back to stand-by. After that happens it takes some time to switch it on again. Hope they will fix this problem with a firmware update soon.
The channel guide is fine, well designed and easy to use. This also holds for the quick programme information that appears in a pop-up window after pressing the OK button.
Interactive services can be accessed as well as teletext features, but again it is a bit slow and takes a while until the information is displayed on the screen.
All in all the value you get for your money is ok for me but next time I would prefer to buy a more advanced product with more features and hopefully no software faults.
