| 'NOTHING EQUIVALENT' | | Strengths: The interface and sound quality. Large range of third party accessories. Beauty of design. Enough capacity to store your music in high resolution AAC and still get it on the player. | | Weaknesses: No replaceable battery. No Remote. No FM Radio. No record function without accesory. Scratches easily. Expensive. | | Overall: I bought this having used a Creative Zen. Until you use an Ipod, you don't realize how much better they are. The relative specifications of this and other MP3 players doesn't tell the full story. The interface is inspired and Itunes is the best software of it's type.
Critically, the Photo models have a much longer battery life than previous models. The difference between 12 and 15 hours is significant.
The caveat here is that although it fits comfortably in to a shirt pocket, it is much thicker than the larger non photo unit. |

| 'GREAT SOUND AND APPEARANCE AT A PRICE' | | Strengths: Apple lossles data conversion rate offers CD quality sound which is disecrnible through a decent amplifier /speakers or using Shure E3 in ear headphones. | | Weaknesses: Build quality-scratches easily and battery usage requires careful managment if the device is to remain usable. User intereface is great but beware downloading the latest version of iTunes ver. 5 if you use a wireless network on XP and your ISP is BT Yahoo. It destroys all your settings and seriously damages your health. Your computer will no longer connect to the internet. Apple says remove iTunes and restore your old version but guess what? Your computer won't let you do so. A serious bug. | | Overall: Buy this item for sound quality and ease of use on the move. It gives audiophiles a wonderful opportunity to listen to the music. |
