'BARGAIN HDTV LCD PROJECTOR, EXCELLENT PICTURE QUALITY'
Strengths:
- Great value for money
- Excellent picture quality
- Very good contrast ratio
- No vertical blending
- Lense shift
Weaknesses:
- No manual iris adjustment
- Black level not superior
- Colours sometimes look too artificial
Overall:
The PT-AE700 is the worthy successor of the PT-AE500 and comes with a lot of features that are usually not to be found in this price range: lens shift, automatic brightness adjustment, automatic iris control etc. The smooth screening technology perfectly hides the pixel structure known from earlier LCD projectors. The projector comes with a variety of inputs (including HDMI).
It's also very easy to set-up: You don't have to find your way through endless menu pages to adjust the picture to your needs. The factory settings are pretty good - there's no need to change everything. The lens shift (can be done with a joystick at the front) helps to ease the installation process too, as does the zoom. With the "projector Calculator" software you can easily find out about the projection distance and the correct placement. The Panasonic has a short throwing distance - that's good especially for smaller home cinemas (like my own living room).
The remote control is good, comes with backlight and covers the main functions. The fan is really quiet and doesn't disturb your movies.
Compared to pricier middle-class projectors the overall picture quality might not be perfect. But at this price the projector is packed with features and is definitely one of the better low-end devices.

'HDTV FOR HALF THE PRICE.'
Strengths:
HDMI input
easy to use
great for small rooms and it is very quiet.
Weaknesses:
At this price none what so ever, dont let the £1700 price tag put you off because i got it for £1300 at unbeatable and you even get a screen with it but i have not used it because i used the new screen goo that you paint on the wall and it is good stuf.
Overall:
Awsome hdtv pictures and it gets even better with the HDMI input.

'EXCELLENT FOR THE PRICE'
Strengths:
HDMI
Excellent picture
Very quiet
Simple to configure
Weaknesses:
Noticed some soft images on analogue sources
Overall:
A very good projector especially as these can be picked up for £1000 these days. I guess the advent of the PTAE900 would have something to do with that. The "screen door" effect is almost eliminated from the picture although with this in mind I did notice some softer images using analogue sources compared to my aging PTAE100. I haven't tried it on HD just yet.
