| 'DON'T COMPROMISE ON THE REAR SURROUND SPEAKERS ' | | Strengths: superb build quality. beautifully neutral sound across the frequency range. very detailed in the mid range. The brackets are also well made and allow fine adjustment of the sound field. The wide sound coverage gives lattiude in the positioning of the speakers | | Weaknesses: The size of the speakers are large compared to most rear speakers. They are specifically designed for direct wall mounting. | | Overall: It was only in the demonstation of these speakers combined with S3e and C5e I was able to appreciate how much the recording of the soundtrack had improved on the majority of DVDs. However the entire spendor system can also highlight the suspect recording of the soundtrack, U2's Rattle and Hum being a case in point. Rear speakers are no longer just fill in effect speakers and need to be considered carefully when choosing your set up and with the advent of 5.1 music CDs this situation can only become more apparent. |
