None that I found yet in day-to-day "video-recorder" use! Apart from ...... finding & downloading the user manual in English. 116 pages! Ohhhh!!!! | | Overall: Firstly, this is FOR ME a "VHS" replacement. I use a separate DVD player for "serious" movie-watching. Okay? Then, onwards: The recording quality onto both DVD and hard disk is amazing, right up to the (still very watchable) Extended Play mode which gives 4 hours on DVD! SLP (6 hours) and Super Extended Long Play (8 hours) show more artifacts but remain watchable, but with 160GB and the option to save to DVD who'll use them? So, if you WANT to wait until September for the digital-tuner UK model, okay, but for now? This is GREAT! And personally, with the analogue "turn-off" not due to START until 2008 .... well, by then technology will have moved-on, right? And maybe "blue-ray" or "HD-DVD" ???? As a REAL replacement for the venerable old VCR, this really will take some beating. Honestly! I looked at the "Panny" and the "Tosh", but their receiver's picture quality really was NOT as good as this. And the receiver needs to be good to record in quality. That's the BIG Sony "plus" point. Heh heh heh, it's so good ....... I bought TWO! I hope others review this; it deserves praise. A great piece of kit for an AMAZING price. |
