'GREAT SOUND '
Strengths:
Stores music from many different sources & media
Weaknesses:
Operation can benefit from an understanding of compressed music file systems ie Mp3, Wav, WMA.
Overall:
When you record from Line in as the previous guy has, you need to physically name the tracks because tapes & record players won't send the information to the unit the same way a CD will. This isn't the fault of the unit, it's just the limitation of records & tapes. Once you've understood this - you've cracked it. ;)

'AWFUL SOFTWARE/AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE'
Strengths:
good sound
Weaknesses:
awful software---I lost part of a lifelong collection of music
Overall:
When you record your LP's os cassette tapes (into line input) all appears well until you download to an external hard drive. Then you'll find that none of this music is retrievable by genre/artist/album.Then if perchance your hard drive crashes(which mine did under warranty!),then the ability to retrieve this music is lost for ever (if you have discarded those Lp's/cassettes).Also to download takes a ridiculous 24 hrs. This is a piece of equipment that should not have been marketed with these errors.

'DONT BUY YET'
Strengths:
Good sound, solid construction, compatibility
Weaknesses:
Sofware is weak and controls clunky. Cant perform a simple task like go back to beginning of track, this is typical of the weaknesses, has to go back to the track before
Overall:
wouldnt reccomend this, i have spent my money but regret it, big investment in time and money, have a good look around and see one working

'GREAT SOUND, BUT DEEPLY FLAWED'
Strengths:
Superb sound reproduction from both hard drive and streaming content.
Weaknesses:
The cooling fan is too noisy for a hi-fi component and doesn't switch off in stand-by mode. CD, hard drive and streaming content all suffer from significant gaps between tracks. Firmware is prone to frequent crashes. CD ripping proved to be inaccurate, including the first split second of the next track in some cases. PC scan has to be run every time you add tracks to your PC and does not pick up existing playlists, meaning you have to create them again on the 640h; a laborious task using the remote.
Overall:
The sound was so good, I persevered for two weeks before finally getting so frustrated I took it back. Now the happy owner of a Roku Soundbridge at a quarter of the price, 99% of the sound quality and none of the technical glitches.
