| 'BRILLIANT!' | | Strengths: Slotted between my Denon 2910 and Rotel amp this little beauty really shines. I was considering a new cd player. This has opened things out very nicely - more of everything. My speakers are Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo 3's. | | Weaknesses: None. | | Overall: Better soundstage - clearer high end and much more clearer and deeper low end. Vocals superb. If you are just a little disappointed with your hifi performance then you must consider the Beresford TC-7510. It's just over £100 posted. |

HAS TURNED MY 15 YEAR OLD CD PLAYER INTO A HIGH END TURNTABLE FOR LESS THAN £100 I KNOW COZ I USED TO HAVE ONE.REMOVES THE DIGITAL HARDNESS FROM CD IN SUCH A MANNER THAT WHEN YOU SHUT YOUR EYES YOU WOULD SWEAR THERE WAS A TURNTABLE IN FRONT OF YOU,HAD MINE FOR A MONTH NOW SO TOTALLY RUN IN, WITH THE ROTHWELL 'RIVER' CABLE, NEEDS ABOUT A WEEK TO SETTLE DOWN AND THEN SIT BACK AND BE AMAZED. CANT RATE THIS BERESFORD MK 6/3 DAC HIGHLY ENOUGH.AWESOME. |

| 'SUPERB DAC FANTASTIC UPGRADE' | | Strengths: Provides a significant upgrade to all areas of cd and dvd replay, much tighter bass , more natural midrange and sweeter treble. Soundstage now much bigger. New detail now apparent on very familiar discs. In short a revelation. | | Weaknesses: None . | | Overall: I've been trying for many years now to extract the maximum information from my Hi-Fi . This DAC has provided me with as big , if not , bigger upgrade than any other change I have made to my system , and all for under £100. Fantastic value for money . Audiophiles take note !. |

| 'A STUNNING DAC AT A BARGAIN PRICE' | | Strengths: Musical - The closest my CD's have come to sounding like vinyl | | Weaknesses: None | | Overall: A copy of an email I just sent to Stanley Beresford says it all. "Just a quick note to say the DAC arrived this morning in perfect condition and is playing downstairs. My first impressions cold and straight out of the box? Stunning! My not inexpensive CD player (Cyrus CD8x/PSX-R) sounds better than it has ever done - in fact I would be very hard pressed to tell the difference between it and vinyl on my Origin Live Aurora/Silver/Cartridge Man Music Maker III (NAIM 72/Hi-Cap/250 - Mission 770 Freedoms)which IMHO is the most musical system I have heard at this price point (and way above). Your DAC has transformed the CD. It is much more "musical" or "Euphonic" as I am wont to describe. Voices and instruments better separated, sound stage more defined, leading and training notes and words much sharper, very very quiet background. For the first time in ages (ever?) I found myself (and my wife) tapping feet to the music on CD (always a very good marker of musicality) and all for less than £100 in a system that would set me back at leat £8K! Wonderful - I will post this on an appropriate forum and spread the word!

| 'AMAZING VALUE! MK6 REVEIW' | | Strengths: Fast, dynamic and extremely detailed should be 600 pounds at least.... | | Weaknesses: At 103.99 delivered next day not much but a remote for volume so easier to use as a pre amp would be cool, I would even pay 50 pounds more for that. | | Overall: This dac is amazing it has lifted my ps3 into the leagues of real cd players the sound has really opened up and my sky HD sounds so much more detailed its out of this world, saved me 600 pounds as that was my original budget for a new cd player! Used with audiolab 8000s amp, 8000p power amp and monitor audio s6 speakers. Not had time yet to trial the pre amp section but I will eventually. |

| 'SIGNIFICANT UPGRADE TO BUDGET PLAYERS' | | Strengths: Excellent levels of detail retrieval, open and transparent sound. Connectivity- 2 digital coax and 2 optical inputs. Superb value at under £100 new. | | Weaknesses: Sounded a little harsh straight out of the box but settled well with burning in. | | Overall: Now on version 5 as Beresford is continually tweaking and improving the unit. He offers a money back guarantee if not satisfied- but do give it a few days burning in before deciding as this really is a sweet sounding DAC. |

| 'ASTONISHINGLY GOOD RESULTS FOR COMPARATIVELY LITTLE CASH' | | Strengths: All Round Sonic Upgrade | | Weaknesses: Some may say its design/looks | | Overall: I was persuaded tot ry one of these by members of a hifi forum, and with the money back guarantee, thought "how could i lose?" The unit arrived very promptly, and upon wiring it inot my system, thought i would have a mandatory wait of around a week for it to "burn in" No! this thing brought instant improvement in a combined value system of around 8 grand......for less than £100 ! Everything just sounded "more hi fidelity" You owe it to yourself to try one, it has been the most effective upgrade i have done to date, thats including using £600 interconnects, an MF X 10 V3 (£350) and upgraded tweeters (+spec) in my PMC FB1's (£300) |

| 'GREAT SUB-£100 DAC WHICH PUNCHES WELL ABOVE ITS HUMBLE PRICE' | | Strengths: Very open and transparent, great 3D imaging. Brimming with detail. Great input and output flexibility. Excellent sound. | | Weaknesses: Tricky - I've used many audiophile DACs at many times the price of this little unit (Benchmark, Musical Fidelity etc), and I remain a VERY happy user of the Beresford. I have no inclination to change. BUT Beresford says he's working on an even better one, so clearly HE thinks it can be improved! The DAC does need a few days break-in period. The headphone jack has quite high hiss levels with sensitive 'phones. | | Overall: Sadly, the formal AVReview article here gives a TOTALLY wrong price - it's really under £100. I think the Mk. 1 unit was reviewed by Jason Kennedy - it's now up to Mk. 2 status and is said to be sounding even better (I've not heard the Mk.1). The greatest improvement was said to be the change from a less-than-adequate 300mA PSU to a 1.7A unit - not surprising that a real leap in sound quality has been reported by some former Mk.1 users on the online forums.
I've had a Mk.2 for a couple of months or so, and I think it is a wonderful DAC. I used to have a $1,000 Benchmark DAC1 - and I don't miss it at all! - Really. I find the Beresford to be very open and transparent, great 3D imaging. Brimming with detail. Excellent soundstage focus too - and I mean EXCELLENT. IMO it's a very fine DAC regardless of price. I believe Beresford also offers money-back if you don't want to keep it. Note that it needs a couple of days running in - it sounds quite poor straight out of the box. |
