Sound quality, depth and power are all that most should need from a surround system. Initial set-up is very easy. Programable inputs/outputs - that can be really handy. | | Weaknesses:
Does not switch component to HDMI so you may not save all the cabling you hoped for. Sound settings seemto add little. I feel that there's a lot of functionality that I'm not benefitting from because I don't have the physics degree necessary to decode the manual. | | Overall:
It does everything I want. It probably does some things I want but don't know about and without being more intuative I probably never will. |

I like it, but wished I'd done some homework first. This model has 2 hdmi inputs, and 1 output, great, but only hdmi can be output, other models upscale from componenent, s-video and composite to HDMI out, this one doesnt, a Denon 2307, and 2807 does. My idea was to have the tv wall mounted and a single Hdmi cable going to it meaning less clutter, not so, you need to get a component cable up there too to feed the 'lower' quality feeds.
with hindsight I wish I had got a denon amp to aesthetically match my 1930 dvd player, and to mean there was only one cable out, an extra £200 tho. i have seen these amps for £279 in richer sounds, I bought mine for £359. |
